General
Choosing the right storage unit size depends entirely on what you plan to store. Whether you’re storing household items, business inventory, or seasonal equipment, every storage need is unique. That’s why our self-storage facilities offer a wide range of unit sizes and types, including climate-controlled options to protect your belongings. Not sure which storage unit is right for you? Explore our Size Guide to see what our most popular storage units can typically accommodate. From small storage spaces for boxes and files to larger units for furniture or business supplies, we make it easy to find the perfect fit for your needs.
To make your move in and out of your storage unit as easy and convenient as possible, we offer the free use of handcarts at most facilities.
Insurance is required to cover the value of all stored items. Affordable insurance options are available at our stores or our customers can provide the declaration page from their existing coverage at the time of rental. Items stored in excess of $5,000 total value require notification and written approval of Safeguard Self Storage.
At Safeguard Self Storage, you do not need to sign a long-term contract as all storage units are rented on a month-to-month basis.
Security
Our facilities are equipped with computer-controlled access, motion-sensor security cameras, and offer high quality unit locks for sale.
We closely monitor access to our storage facilities using a combination of advanced security and smart entry technology. Every customer is assigned a unique access PIN for use at our secure keypads, and we also offer convenient express access options such as fobs. In addition, customers can use our smartphone app with Bluetooth-enabled access, allowing them to open gates and doors seamlessly—while automatically recording each entry for added security and tracking. All access activity—whether by PIN, fob, or mobile app—is logged and supported by digital video surveillance across the property. Our facilities are fully enclosed, ensuring that all entry and exit points are controlled and monitored. This layered approach provides a secure, trackable environment so you can store with confidence.
You are responsible for securing your storage unit with your own lock. For added protection, we offer high-quality, maximum-security locks designed specifically for our unit doors, available for purchase in-store.
A disc lock is a round, heavy-duty lock designed specifically for storage units. Its compact shape and enclosed shackle make it difficult to cut or tamper with, providing an added layer of security compared to standard padlocks. Disc locks are commonly recommended for storage units because they fit securely on the door latch and help better protect your belongings from unauthorized access.
Specific Storage Types
All our storage facilities offer climate-controlled storage units designed to maintain a consistent temperature range year-round. These units help protect sensitive items from extreme heat and cold, making them an ideal choice for furniture, electronics, documents, and other valuables.
Safeguard Self Storage offers flexible, month-to-month storage for motorcycles—whether you need winter storage or year-round protection.
Motorcycle storage typically requires a drive-up (exterior) storage unit for easy access and loading. A 5’ x 10’ storage unit (5 feet by 10 feet) is usually the minimum size needed to safely store a motorcycle along with basic gear. To find the best fit for your needs, explore our storage unit Size Guide for detailed dimensions and recommendations.
When choosing car storage, accessibility and protection are key. Vehicle storage units must be drive-up (exterior) so you can easily park and retrieve your car. You’ll also need to decide between an outdoor parking space—where your vehicle is exposed to the elements—or an enclosed, garage-style storage unit for added protection. For enclosed car storage, a 10’ x 20’ storage unit (10 feet wide by 20 feet deep) is typically the minimum size required for most standard vehicles. Keep in mind that storage unit door openings are usually around 7 feet high (may vary by location), so be sure your vehicle fits within that clearance.
At many of our self storage locations, we offer storage lockers. Generally, these storage lockers are 5 feet wide and 5 feet deep, but the height of the ceiling is 4 feet. These locker units are ideal for storing seasonal items, such as decorations or clothing. Or maybe you just have a couple of small boxes that need a resting place. A storage locker would be an excellent solution to this situation.
